HIGH SCHOOLS NOW HOSTING "THE ART OF COLLEGE PARENTING"

Popular for years on college campuses, Lenny now brings a similarly important message to parents of college-bound high school seniors. This spring, he'll be speaking at Walnut Hills, Elder and Wyoming High Schools in Ohio. Then, in June, Lenny will be presenting his program to a state-wide audience of college admissions counselors (OACAC). With a focus on the academic and social transition from high school to college, this shared, 'live' experience opens up the lines of communication between parents and their college-bound, teenage children:

"I wanted to let you know how very much my son and I enjoyed your talk last night. During our ensuing conversation, I finally heard him say (for the first time!) that he now believes he has the confidence, knowledge, independence and skills for college and beyond. As a parent, I can’t tell you how powerful that is!"

"My daughter and I really enjoyed your presentation last night. Thank you for sharing your learning with us. Being a first-time parent of a college bound child, we both found it to be really helpful."

Lenny's program is also receiving kudos from high school counselors:

"A great night! This will become a regular, annual event for our school."
- Walnut Hills High School

"Given the response I received from parents, I feel even more confident that it’s needed and appreciated!"
- Cincinnati Hills Christian Academy

HUMOR, LAUGHTER, LIFE & MS

This fall, Lenny headed west to Colorado and Wyoming to deliver his Wellness program on Healthy Humor for two Multiple Sclerosis support group audiences... one in Longmont (CO), the other in Laramie (WY). No one chooses to have MS, just as Lenny didn't choose to have a heart attack! However, our positive participation and our active involvement in coping with our daily challenges is a conscious choice over which we do have control. The ability to retain our sense of humor gives us some measure of control rather than merely becoming a passive victim.

If you know of a Wellness or 'Active Senior' group or organization looking for fun, informative programs on healthy humor and/or a 100-year overview of the history of 'modern' comedy, please contact us today!

COLLEGIATE CALLINGS

This summer, Lenny returned to McKendree University in Illinois for the 6th year in a row! His parent orientation program, "The Art of College Parenting," continues to be an annual favorite there. He also delivered that same program to anxious parents at the University of Pittsburgh! New students at Wilkes Community College (NC) heard Lenny share "Campus Keys for Student Success." Lenny returned to Vincennes University (IN) in October to work closely with Student Government, campus Greek leaders, club and organization leaders, and to teach a Nursing Management Leadership class... all in a 36-hour span of time!

CREATIVE LEADERSHIP IN OUR NATION'S CAPITAL?

Yes, we'd all like to see that! However, this reference has to do with Lenny's return engagement at the 2011 ASGA (American Student Government Association) National Summit in Washington, DC in September. This marked the 5th year in a row that Lenny has been invited to speak at ASGA. The conference hosts nearly 700 students and advisors from over 150 college and university campuses across the country. AROUND THE WORLD... IN 4 HOURS!

Procter & Gamble International Transferees recently invited Lenny to present "Laugh Goes On" as a 4-hour humor and creativity workshop. This group is a unique blend of international employee spouses (and former employees) from around the world - 15 countries were represented in the room!

During lunch, Lenny sat with new friends from Iraq, Pakistan and Venezuela... you know, like he always does! The experience of that day taught a most valuable lesson to everyone about therapeutic humor: It's not about telling jokes. It's about sharing a smile and a laugh... and life gives us all the humorous material we need to find that common ground!

AATH 25th ANNIVERSARY CELEBRATION

The 2012 AATH Annual Conference (Association for Applied & Therapeutic Humor) marks the organizations 25th anniversary! The event will be held in Chicago, April 19-22 at the Westin O'Hare Hotel. Lenny is Past President of this international group dedicated to serving as the community of professionals who study, practice and promote healthy humor and laughter. AATH members represent diverse fields such as health and wellness, seniors and aging, education, spirituality and faith communities. Visit www.aath.org for more information.

EATING HIS WAY ACROSS NORTH AMERICA

Despite the occasional airport hot dog, Lenny has also found several wonderful restaurants while on the road. Here are just a few:

Panama City Beach (FL) - Boatyard. Great seafood, including the best shrimp cocktail I've ever had! Fun atmosphere overlooking the harbor.

Orlando - Charlie's Steak House (on International Drive). A meat-lovers paradise. It doesn't get much better than this!

Savannah - The Lady & Sons (in the City Market area). You've got to try the chowder. If sex was a soup, this would be it!

Little Rock - Sonny Williams Steak House (down by the river) is first class. Doe's Eat Place (yep, that's the name) looks like a run-down hole-in-the-wall from the outside, which it is - but don't be fooled. Once you step inside, enjoy great family style eatin'.

St. Louis - Neruda (just across the river in Edwardsville, Illinois). A wonderful culinary experience from start to finish.

Charlotte - LaVecchia's Seafood (downtown). If you like seafood, you'll love the way they prepare it here. Thoroughly enjoyable.

McCormick & Schmick's (in 25 cities) - Great seafood, wonderfully prepared!

Cincinnati - Skyline Chili (many locations). A 3-way and a couple of cheese coneys have sustained many a Cincinnatian for lunch, dinner, and late at night!

Enjoy!
